SummerCamp III : Open Call

There is so much beauty it can make you cry (title found by pressing play in itunes and listening to the lyrics of the first song played at random)

Now in its third year, Exile is once again excited to announce an Open Call for its annual SummerCamp. In the past two years, SummerCamp has received a great amount of attention and acclaim from visitors and press alike. Please visit the Exile website for further information, images and reviews on both previous projects:

SummerCamp I (2009)
SummerCamp II (2010)

At the core of this year's SummerCamp stands again the simple aim to provide space for broad experimental practice and a collaborative experience. This year's Open Call has just one criteria: It's gotta be moving. We are looking for project submissions in any kind of time-based media ranging from short to soap and epic drama, from streaming webcam to assembled footage, from animated gif to scripted animation, from mega high- to ultra low-tech, from finished project to performance filmed on site, from music video to silent film - upwards and onwards to any other breed of hypermedia.

The exhibition's architecture is a large part of the overall installation and will be planned and constructed specifically for the selected submissions. While maintaining autonomous viewing situations suitable for the selected works, the overarching aim is a collectively operating and immersive experience.

To submit your work please send information and a link to where your video can be viewed online. Alternatively, if you would like to propose a special project filmed and produced on site in Berlin, please send a short project proposal with specific consideration as to how the project contributes to the exhibition and how it can be executed technically.

Submission Email: summercamp@thisisexile.com

SummerCamp 2011 will run for 4 weeks in our new gallery space in Berlin-Mitte from July 09 to August 06. The Opening will be held on Saturday July 09, 7-10pm.

We look forward to receiving your submissions.
